Summer swim meets are a fun and exciting way for Gators to put their training into action. Meets give swimmers of all levels a chance to race, learn, and grow in a supportive team environment. While competition is encouraged, the focus is always on personal bests, teamwork, and enjoying the sport.

Swim meets can be fast-paced and full of energy, especially for new families. From sign-up procedures to what to pack and when to arrive, we’ve outlined everything you need to know (below) to help your swimmer feel prepared and confident on race day.
A few weeks before each meet, a sign-up sheet will be posted on the Gators board in the Aquaplex lobby. Be sure to sign up early so coaches can plan events and relays. If you're unsure whether your swimmer is ready, check with your coach, they’re happy to help!
Warm-up and session times will be shared by the coaches ahead of each meet. While schedules can vary, it’s best to plan for a full-day commitment. Unless meet officials announce otherwise, avoid leaving mid-day, you could risk missing a race! If you’re ever unsure, reach out to your coach for timing details and expectations.
Swim meets are busy, fun, and often long, being prepared makes a big difference! Here's a checklist of helpful items to bring:
Tent or sun shelter (for outdoor meets; no tents allowed indoors at Red Deer)
Blankets or foam mats for rest time
Towels (lots of them!)
Pillows or seating pads
Sharpies or highlighters for heat sheets and writing events on swimmers
Cooler with snacks, meals, and plenty of drinks
Extra goggles and swim caps (just in case!)
Cash for concessions, raffles, or meet gear
Books, games, or quiet activities for downtime
Lawn chairs or folding seats for parents
